SLActive® · Roxolid® · Tissue Level CrossFit®
The TLX redefines tissue-level implantology by introducing the CrossFit® internal connection to a classic design philosophy. It delivers the soft-tissue handling advantages of a tissue-level platform — polished collar, simplified abutment workflow — combined with the full prosthetic flexibility of the CrossFit® connection. Part of the iExcel™ 2025 next-generation portfolio.
The TLX was engineered to answer a long-standing clinical question: what if the simplicity of tissue-level placement could be combined with the versatility of a modern internal connection? The answer is the Tissue Level CrossFit® (TLX) — a design that retains the polished transmucosal collar familiar from classic tissue-level implants while adding the CrossFit® connection for access to the full range of contemporary prosthetic options, including digital CAD/CAM workflows.
The SLActive® surface on the TLX follows the same proven chemistry: sandblasted large-grit + acid-etched, stored in isotonic NaCl, contact angle <5°. This near-complete hydrophilicity accelerates early blood clot stabilization and osteoblast recruitment, achieving reliable osseointegration in 3–4 weeks — enabling earlier loading compared to 6–8 weeks with conventional SLA®.
Roxolid® titanium-zirconium alloy offers 15% greater strength than pure titanium, allowing the TLX to maintain structural integrity even in the 3.75 mm narrow diameter configuration under occlusal loading. For the TLX wide-body options (Ø 5.5 and 6.5 mm), Roxolid® ensures long-term fatigue resistance in posterior high-load zones.
The TLX bridges two decades of tissue-level clinical evidence with next-generation prosthetic engineering.
The polished 1.8 mm transmucosal collar extends above the bone crest into the soft tissue, creating a biologically stable interface at the gingival margin and reducing the need for dedicated abutment connections at every procedure.
Unlike traditional tissue-level implants with external hex connections, the TLX uses the modern CrossFit® 15° conical connection — providing superior mechanical sealing, lower screw loosening rates, and access to the full iExcel™ prosthetic library.
The tissue-level design often eliminates the need for a separate abutment connection appointment — the polished collar naturally guides tissue healing, reducing chair time and simplifying the overall treatment sequence.
NT (Narrow Tissue), RT (Regular Tissue), and WT (Wide Tissue) collar configurations allow precise matching of implant platform to the site anatomy — from narrow ridges and anterior teeth to posterior molar sites requiring wider emergence profiles.

All diameter and length combinations for the Straumann TLX. Standard Plus (SP) version shown; Standard (S) version also available.
Narrow collar platform. Indicated for sites with reduced interproximal space or narrow ridges, typically anterior maxillary and mandibular positions.
Regular collar width. The standard choice for premolar and anterior molar sites, balancing emergence profile with peri-implant tissue support.
Wide collar for posterior molar positions and cases requiring broad emergence profiles — provides maximum cortical bone engagement in wide sockets.
